So here's a little Gilpins axe very nice indeed...
Then a brand new old in the box Stanley 91/2 block plane, I'm really chuffed with this. A lovely little plane!!
And a few quid today got me, a Sybren foot rule, Elliot Lucas nail pincers, And my favourite an Alex Mathieson 11/4"-32mm firmer chisel. I have a small collection of these Mathieson tools, made in Scotland like me!! But I use them, I don't just drool over them!!;)
Please feel free to drool....
For rootertooter , Nail Pincers....
I dare say you have this kind of tool but called something else!!
You've got good taste in tools, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gorges...
DeleteI am rather old school when it comes to tools... ;)
I have the same little Stanley, and use it a lot. I have had them fall out of my tool belt when up on a roof on a couple occasions. The don't survive and break right at the slot.
ReplyDeleteYeah I could see that they would snap off there.. But in the box like that doesn't, come around everyday....
DeleteThe nail pincers. can you tell me more about them. please i own a hardware store in Mt. Pleasant, Tenn. I like the older tools you hear about but never see.
ReplyDeleteThey are like pliers but when they close the end is round to rock the nail back and forth to loosen and remove it.. Tomorrow I'll put a few pics on for you... Thanks for your interest.. Is your store an old school place or a modern day kind of place , or best of both?
DeleteI added pics for you...
DeleteBrian: Over here we call those nippers. And typically are used for twisting and then cutting wire, when doing steel work for reinforced concrete or wire fencing. But I have never seen one with a cats paw on the end of the handle. looks like a neat tool.
DeleteYeah we use those here too.. For the same work you described.. The pincers are handy for pulling brads yes quite a handy tool...
