And I'm glad I did , after I found these things, an old gouge ,a little Marples unbreakable handled chisel that looks pretty new, a cracking big drawknife which I've always wanted but never managed to find until now.
And a little highly decorated Scandinavian knife, that I had spotted a few weeks back, it was a little too much at the time. So today I made an offer of half the price of the previous visit , and at the end of the day I walked away a happy man. If any of you folks know about these kind of knives I would be interested to find out where it was made, I think the pattern on the blade is a name but I'm unsure...

Look at that, just like it was Christmas. The Mora knife looks like an old one.The draw knife looks like a nice one as well. I have a similar sized one but mine has the pivoting handles so they act as a blade guard in storage and transport.
ReplyDeleteYes it was a good day! I've seen the pivoting type online. I was going to buy a new one but now I have an old gem, I honed it up, and had a little go. I think it will be a favourite before long . Thanks for looking in ... :)
DeleteGood buys! I've not brought any tools lately from car boots except a No 3 record vice that was £10 (bargain). I've had some good buys in the past and like you I always buy any gouge I see
