In Stitches

I was in the shed today for a few hour's planing and smoothing out parts for the chair I'm building. One half of the back rest has a split in it, so after a bit of pondering whether or not to find something else. I decided to make some big staples and strengthen it up, so I bent some wire in the vice just using the hammer. Then I tapped the staple and drilled small pilot holes in the dimples before driving them home. Now the split looks like it has been stitched, this gives this chair an unusual quirk :)

  1. hi brian. happy new year to you and your family. looks like the weathers not too nice over there. its been unusually cold here to for a few days with night temps in the upper 20f. range. so there is concern over the citrus and other crops for damage . but it does give you more time to be productive in the shop. hope all is well ken

  3. I like the stitching, nothing like a bit of character. I hear the go ape site in your woods took a bit of a battering last week! is it as bad as it sounds?

  5. Stitching looks pretty cool. Gives it a kind of gothic edge!
