I headed down to the Helix tonight home of the Kelpies , Wow very impressive me thinks!!! Here's a taster of the Helix and the world famous Kelpies... ;)
Along with the clever buildings and hard landscaping and the parkland it's really quite something different. If any of you guys are out this way, the Helix and the Kelpies are well worth a look... ;)

Making Use
Hey folks I have been messing around with an idea for a chair, I made a start by chopping out the mortises and then marking and cutting tenon's.. The paramo plane mentioned a few posts back proved very handy for trimming down the tenon cheeks.. I like making use of these old tools that I buy , rather than just letting them collect dust... Anyhoo here's where I got to... ;)

Evening Sun
I cycled off along the canal this evening.. As it was too nice a night to be absorbed into the sofa. Anyhoo, along the way I saw thick seed pods hanging in the Elm scrub that lines the canal banks..
And in the Sycamore the start of what will be the winged seed pods this autumn, starting out like small bunches of grapes under the new green leaves..
Bluebells are everywhere too...
And the evening sun making the old Union Canal sparkle... ;)

Latest Creations
Hey, I'm getting back into the workshop a bit more. Here are a few of my latest creations, three stools first the biggest one has a cherry top with ash legs, the medium sized one has a field maple top with ash legs and the smallest has an oak top with hazel legs. They are all wedged with teak wedges which gives a nice dark line in each joint... Also an elm burr-burl slice for a little cheese board this stuff looks just great, sanded up with a little oil or wax. And a couple of Lyme bowls which I quite enjoyed doing for a bit of a change... :)
